A Cultural Exchange 8.0

Local Candidates from Kitchener Centre, Kitchener Conestoga, and Waterloo share their vision and support for local arts and culture. Interested members of the general public and workers in the cultural sector are welcome to share their views as well.

Each candidate will have 3.5 minutes to share their stance on arts and culture. This will then be followed at round tables by a brief discussion. After each candidate speaks, they will mix and mingle between tables to meet with everyone throughout the evening. After each five-minute rotation, representatives from local organizations will have up to three minutes to speak about their projects and initiatives.

CBC Kitchener Centre Candidates Panel

A live panel with candidates from Kitchener Centre, broadcast on CBC Radio One (89.1 in Kitchener-Waterloo). The panel will be moderated by the host of the KW Morning Edition, Craig Norris.

Candidates will discuss local and national issues including: the opioid crisis, municipal infrastructure, environment, affordability and current events that may arise between now and then.

Hosted by Cross Cultures Magazine, this all candidates meeting is a chance for residents of the Forest Heights neighbourhood and beyond to hear from Mike and other candidates in Kitchener Centre.

The first hour features prepared questions about candidates’ skills, knowledge and experience. In the second hour, candidates will take take questions from community members in the audience.

Mike will be on TV discussing and debating what matters most to Kitchener.

The debate will be one hour long and will be broadcast on channel 20.

The debate will be available for free at www.rogerstv.com, but not until 10 PM tonight when it premieres.

Tomorrow afternoon they will post the debate to the Rogers TV YouTube account.

Free Concert - "Seasons of Change"

Come out for a free concert entitled "Seasons of Change" put on by musicians from Kitchener Centre!

Come early to get a seat!

7pm: Concert starts

8pm: Mike will be on stage to talk about the Green Party’s arts and culture platform and answer your questions.

Background and Overview of the Evening:

After hearing what Mike had to say at a Kitchen Table Conversation held this past summer, the group who were there were inspired by the calls to action around the planet, people, and community. They decided to come together as musicians for an evening to share music in honour of the earth and support of Mike’s work in the community.

The evening will include:

  • Clarence Cachagee, who originates from Chapleau Cree First Nation and calls Kitchener home, will speak about connectedness with each other and the land. Clarence is a visionary, helper and author who serves and supports those living on the margins of society while also facilitating groups focused on healing and land-based teachings.

  • Musicians include:

    • Kimberly Barber - Mezzo Soprano

    • Jeremy Bell and Julie Baumgartel - Violins

    • James Mason - Oboe

    • Erso - Singer-songwriter duo
